We are currently looking for musicians to become “Players” at  Heard In Unity..

Heard In Unity

The  player you selected may be very much in demand and already committed to a series of concerts.  More generally, most of the players have large repertoires and demand high standards of themselves - they will want to prepare the dishes you have selected to near perfection.  As such, many will want to perform  from memory  - and that takes time and careful preparation.  If “playing from memory” is not an issue with you, discuss with your selected player to see if that will reduce the lead time.  Also a slight variation in the programme to include items recently performed by the player might also reduce the lead time.

Realistically, bargain on at least two weeks from agreeing your concert menu to its performance.

When you arrange and make payment for a concert with one of the players advertised on this site, you do so at your own risk. Sofa Sodality makes no assurances or warranty on the quality, reliability or honesty of the players advertised on its site, and therefore accepts no liability for any consequential loss incurred by you as viewer of this site, arranging a concert with one of the musicians ( the players) advertised on this site.

As some safeguard against poor performance, this site does allow you to “sample” the quality of its players performance as an indication of the level of performance you can expect  for your own concert - but performing is nerve-wracking and any of the players advertised here can have an “off night”.

In the event the players advertised here fails to perform at a concert arranged with you, and then fails to comply with their own stated or negotiated refund policy, or more generally acts in provably dishonest or fraudulent manner, then Heard in Unity  will remove the player from this website  - this is the only sanction we can take.

Unlike a staged, formal concert, you are free to set  the pace of the concert.  This could mean you choose to have frequent intervals between “dishes”  in which you chat with your friends and the performer, have a drink, maybe even a bite to eat.

However while a player performs, they will expect your full attention and you will want to respect both them and the music they perform by giving it your full attention and remaining silent.

All the dishes in the menu - all the items in the concert - should have been agreed between you and the player before the concert, and unless the player is willing to play ad hoc requests and/ or improvise, then you cannot expect them to serve up unexpected “dishes” during performance. Furthermore, if you have the attitude that your money buys you the right to belittle, abuse or behave unreasonably towards the musicians advertised on this site, please go elsewhere.

Many of our player have arrangements with local, small venues which could host your concert for a reasonable price. Check with your selected player whether this is an option.

Most of our players would enjoy performing with you, either as your accompanist or interleaving your performance with their own items

Heard in Unity and this site purely serves to advertise and introduce musicians(the players) to you (the viewer of this site).  Heard in Unity  is not an agent, promoter or act in any other capacity for the players on this site.  As such Heard in Unity  accepts no liability in the event of a player or a viewer of this site  failing to comply with terms mutually agreed between, leading to dispute or financial loss.  If you arrange and pay for a concert with one of the players advertised on this site, you do so at your own risk.

I love the idea of picking my own concert for just me and my friends, but I couldn’t stage one in my home / don’t have a piano. What can I do?

Can I perform at my own concert?

What is the relationship between Heard In Unity  and the players advertised on the site?

Why can  the lead time to a concert be so long?

What happens if the player fails to turn up or plays poorly?

Must we all sit silently through the whole performance?

What if a player won’t perform something I request during the concert?

That depends - it’s the perfect site if you and your guests want to give your full attention and respect to our musicians, but it’s not the site to use if you just want back-ground schlock muzzak

Is this a good site for arranging  music for a wedding?
